Fighting wildfires with AI

Wildfires are a huge problem in many parts of the world, and Sweden got its fair share last summer. To avoid damage from fires, they need to be detected early or prevented altogether. Could AI be the solution?

Last summer, Sweden battled wildfires. People were evacuated from their homes, international assistance came to the rescue and the national weather service issued fire warnings for almost the entire country. By combining weather data with real-time classification, it could be possible to detect risk areas and prevent wildfires by providing fire departments with early warnings.
