Sustainable Land Use? Synergies, Conflicts, and Solutions for Sweden and Beyond
How does Swedish farming and food consumption affect ecosystem services here and around the world? What role does agriculture in the EU, particularly the CAP, play in driving Agenda 2030? How can we sustain food, energy, biofuels, climate regulation, and thriving nature with limited land resources?
Utökad information om evenemangetFood and biofuel demand are some of the most influential leverage points for sustainable natural resource management, where individual consumption decisions impact what (and how) farmers produce. In this seminar, researchers share their latest analyses of the social and environmental impacts of land use in Sweden, the EU, and globally, linking agricultural consumption and production. We explore scenarios for a more sustainable future and examine the benefits of changing our agricultural systems, while acknowledging potential goal conflicts. Topics: 1. “Linking cites and farmland: How Sweden could increase food and energy security through better waste management.” 2. “Aligning research, policy, and practice for the Sustainable Development Goals in European agriculture.” 3. “Linking Swedish consumption to socio-environmental impacts through international trade in land, water, food, and biofuels.”
